Your Name is What??
It's hard to believe I have already completed my first quarter at CMIS! I've been busy not only teaching but writing curriculum and trying to make a yearly plan for my classes. I see about 250 students a week and have had difficulty remembering their names. I finally decided to take pictures of all my students, place them in word documents for each class, and open the document on my desktop when the class comes into the lab. Many of the names are difficult for me to remember how they are pronounced so I have also added pronunciations in parentheses. There are about 30 different countries represented in the children I see, so I am not just dealing with the Thai pronunciation of words but many others such as German, French, Chinese, and Welsh (just to name a few). Idioms are something I try to stay away from completely. Many of my students are very confused when I slip and use one.
